Watching the sun set across the way I’m glad I was wise enough to take a few hours today to get some fresh air and exercise with these four. For some it’s hard to plug in to work, for me it’s much harder to unplug, especially when deadlines loom and priorities reshuffle daily. It’s good to be grateful. Gratefulness keeps first things first.
Magic in the mundane
In Volume 4 when we were deconstructing the word MAGIC, I spoke about Gratitude.
Gratitude is not just giving thanks for the blessings you can perceive, to see value in what is right before you, but being optimistic enough to perceive the blessings that may yet be hidden or on their way. To help with this, God wants to heal some of us in the areas of our disappointment, where unmet expectations have made us not want to reach with our whole hearts.
I said then that He’s still working on me in that area. But how? By continually proving He is faithful, quietly reminding me what matters to me matters to Him, and by allowing me to prove Him. It then becomes mercy to lack for a moment, for in it we learn He is Jireh right on time. It is worthwhile to suffer, for in it we better acquaint with the boundless comfort of our Burden-bearer. When our paths are uncertain we gain sure footing as we walk with the never-flagging Way-maker. When bad things become good in His hands, even that we can receive and partake of with thanksgiving.
Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Psalms 34:8 NKJV
P.S. Speaking of goodness, guess who got another persimmon! (Insider intel from Volume 9: The Magic of Fragrance, in case you missed it.) Happy Thanksgiving ya’ll!
